Elred Kumar, who produced highly-successful films such as the Gautham Menon-directed Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya and K.V. Anand’s Ko on behalf of his production house R.S. Infotainment, turns director with Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal (MUK).
MUK stars Amala Paul and Atharva in the lead roles. This is just the second film of actor Atharva, son of the late actor Murali, who debuted as hero with last year’s Baana Kathadi. Amala Paul, who is on a row with back-to-back hits in last year’s Mynaa and this year’s Vijay-directed Deiva Thirumagal, hopes to score a hat-trick of hits with MUK as and when the film releases in the near future.
A single-track album of MUK containing a solitary song was recently released in the city. The film, which has music by G.V. Prakash Kumar, has already become one of the most-awaited films in recent time despite a relatively new cast and a debutant director, thanks to the publicity stills of the film.
Talking about his experience as director, Kumar says, “I haven’t worked as assistant director under anybody. I have penned the story and screenplay of the film. The songs have come off very well under GVP’s care. The cast and crew have rendered excellent cooperation in ensuring that the final output is satisfactory. I only stepped in as director when the person chosen to do the job opted out at the very last moment!”
Actor Jiiva and director Vetrimaran, who took part in the single-track audio launch held recently, have given the ‘thumbs-up’ to Kumar and says he’s done a highly appreciable job as director in his debut film.
