Of late, the number of actresses who have been approaching the family courts seeking divorce has gone up. The actresses get married with fanfare but the marital bond lasts hardly for a few months or a few years alone as each of them have loads of complaints to make opposite the other. The latest to seek legal redressal to get released from the wedlock is actress Vindhya.
Vindhya, who debuted as heroine in the super-hit film Sangamam, went on to star in many movies before getting married a few years back. She married Gopalakrishnan alias Gopi, younger brother of senior actress Bhanupriya, in 2009. The marriage was held in a grand manner at Guruvayoor, Kerala.
Within a few months of married life, differences started to creep up between the couple. Vindhya then filed a case with the Family Court in Chennai stating that her husband was physically harassing him seeking many things in the name of ‘dowry’. She then filed another petition seeking divorce from Gopi.
The proceedings were taking place in the Court. In the meantime, Gopi too filed for divorce seeking separation from Vindhya under mutual consent. Their divorce will be through after the six-month waiting period. The case comes up for hearing soon.
