Director Sargunam is almost ready with his second directorial venture titled ‘Vaagai Sooda Vaa’ (VSV). For starters, Sargunam made a successful directorial debut with last year’s phenomenal hit ‘Kalavaani’ which starrer Vimal and Oviya in the lead and was produced by Nazir, manager of actress Trisha.
‘Kalavaani’ was liked by all sections of the audience and was an instant hit in the rural as well as the urban sides. VSV, however, is a story set in the backdrop of a typical Tamil village, which was especially erected by the Sargunam’s crew. In order to make the village appear realistic, Sargunam made as many as 60 families stay at the village for more than 3 months during when he held his shooting there.
The village reportedly cost him Rs.2 crore in the making but he wasn’t complaining at all. The village looked so real that the Government-appointed health workers, who were visiting the surrounding villages to administer ‘polio drops’ to children below 5 years of age, visited this ‘village’ too and did their duty perfectly without realizing that they were caught in the middle of the shooting of a feature film!
It is said that the film, which narrates a soft romantic story between two commoners, has been made in typical Sargunam style sans any notable violence. Vimal again plays the hero in this film, which has actor-director K. Bhagyaraj in a pivotal role. Jibran scores the music while lyricists Vairamuthu and Arivumathi have penned the lyrics in the film, which has been produced by Muruganandam.
