Vikram and Anushka as romantic pair in Thandavam

Vikram Anuskha

Director Vijay presented Vikram in a role which gave him plenty of scope to display his acting prowess in last year’s Deivathirumagal. Vikram, who doesn’t mind undergoing physical penance in order to prepare himself for the roles he plays with aplomb in almost all his films, made the audience cry for his plight in many sequences in the film by playing the role of a mentally challenged person.

Though the lanky and sexy Anushka had played pivotal role of an advocate in the film, she wasn’t paired opposite Vikram. Vijay is now making Thandavam which brings Vikram and Anushka as a romantic jodi in the film. The promotional stills released a few days back depicting Vikram and Anushka sitting on one of the two cement benches in front of the Taj Mahal have aroused lot of curiosity in film circles.

Talking about the film, Vijay reveals that the film’s script would be about an individual’s struggles and the turmoil he is made to go through by the anti-social elements. The protagonist hits back in his own inimitable way which is what makes the script rather interesting, according to Vijay. “The film would be striking a cord in almost all the viewers’ hearts,” says the director.

The crew shot for around 25 days in and around Delhi and Agra. The next schedule of the film’s shoot brings the crew back to Chennai where they would be shooting for a fortnight. The third and final leg of the shooting would be held in U.S. for over 50 days. The film’s produced by UTV’s Ronnie Screwala and also features Amy Jackson, who debuted in Vijay’s Madarasapattinam a couple of years ago, in a significant role.

Santhanam takes care of the comedy track while Telugu star Jagapathy Babu is roped in to play a prominent role. Vijay pens the story, dialogues and screenplay besides directing the film. G.V. Prakash Kumar scores the music while Nirav Shah would handle the camera. Lyricist Naa Muthukumar would be penning all the songs in the film.
