After much debate in what seemed as the ‘Clash of the titans’, the dust finally seems to have settled down. With Mankatha director Venkat Prabhu announcing the release of the movie after 2 weeks (expectedly August 19th) from the audio release (confirmed for August 10th) the dates now signal a gap of almost 10 days in the release of Ilayathalapathy Vijays Velayutham and Thala Ajiths Mankatha. We now have news that Jayam Raja directed and Vijay starrer Velayudham will hit silver screens this August 31, 2011.
Velayudham being the remake of Telugu hit ‘Azad’ had a budget of Rs.35 crores. However after the final shoots the movie cost almost Rs.45 crores, shooting up by Rs. 10 crore accounting to the grand songs, the graphics work and the lavish sets. The movie’s Ramzan release boasts of 6 adrenaline pimping action sequences and another 5 songs beautifully captured, to the tunes of composer Vijay Antony. In Kerala, Vijay’s Velayudham has been acquired by Shibu of Thameens Films who feels that the Ramzan and Onam season will do loads of good for the movie.
A wonderful climax to this August season for all our Kollywood fans.
