Actress Vijayalakshmi hasn’t been seen on-screen for the past many months now. Dauther of noted film-maker Agathiyan who won the national award for his film ‘Kaadhal Kottai’, Vijayalakshmi debuted as an actress in Venkat Prabhu‘s cricket-based film ‘Chennai 600 028′ a few years back. She then starred in few more movies but is still wating for her big break.
She also starred opposite ‘superstar’ Rajinikanth for a few days for the female lead’s role in the animation film ‘Sultan: The Warrior’ launched with much fanfare by Soundarya, the superstar’s younger daughter. Whatever happened to the film is known to nobody but Vijayalakshmi is ruing her ill-luck that though she starred opposite Rajini, the film hasn’t yet been released.
She now plays the real-life role of Muthulakshmi, wife of the slain sandalwood poacher Veerappan, in an upcoming film titled ‘Vana Yudhdham’. The film is being directed by Ramesh, who has made films like ‘Kuppi’ and ‘Kaavalar Kudiyiruppu’. Kishore plays Veerappan in the film in which ‘action king’ Arjun plays the cop who tracks down and hunts the poacher.
The film is being made simultaneously in Tamil and Kannada. Ramesh says that he had made lot of research before going into the shooting. “The film would be shot at the same places where Veerappan once lived and terrorised the people,” says Ramesh. Yuvan Shankar Raja would be scoring the music for the film.
