Actress Vijayalakshmi (of Chennai 600 028 fame) has been in high spirits. She now plays the real-life role of Muthulakshmi, wife of the slain sandalwood poacher Veerappan, in an upcoming film titled ‘Vana Yudhdham’. Younger daughter of award-winning director Agathiyan, Vijayalakshmi shot to fame by playing a minor role in Venkat Prabhu’s Chennai 600 028 a few years back. She starred in few more films including Mysskin’s Anjathay but couldn’t make it to the top bracket.
In between, she shot for a week last year with superstar Rajinikanth for the film Sultan: The Warrior which has since undergone change in its title. The film has been directed by Rajinikanth’s youngest daughter Soundarya. The film got delayed due to so many factors, the first and foremost of them being the ill-health of the superstar who is presently resting at his residence after returning from Singapore where he had gone for treatment of his kidneys.
Speaking about her experience of working wit Rajinikanth, she said, “Many leading actresses of the past and present generation have paired up opposite superstar Rajini. I never thought I’d be considered to play Rajini Sir’s heroine in any of his films. I can never forget till my life time the fact that my name features in the list of actresses who have been fortunate enough to be paired opposite him.
“My favourite hero is Bollywood’s Abishek Bachchan. Whenever I’m not shooting, I would like to chill out at hill resorts. If the mind and body needs to be chilled out, there’s not a better place other than our own Ooty. I also love to stay at the many boat-houses in Kerala; you get lost completely in the serene atmosphere,” says Viji.
