Actor Vijay is said to be essaying the role of a ‘super-hero’ in his upcoming venture titled ‘Velayudham’ directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja and produced by Ravichandran’s Ascar Films at a whopping budget. The film’s audio was released at a grand event held in Madurai amid Vijay’s fans. In a free-wheeling chat, Vijay gives us insight into his role in the film and the making of it.
“Velayudham is something which has been awaited with lot of expectations by me and by my fans. We wanted to host the audio launch in front of the fans and then Madurai was chosen as the venue. I always want to take my fans along with me in whatever I do. Coming to the script of the film, I’m sure each and every hero would like to play a ‘super-hero’ at some stage in his career.
“I too nursed such a desire. Velayudham has provided me the perfect platform to do so. The film has all the necessary ingredients that fans expect in a wholesome entertainer. Whatever the hero does, it is backed by sound logic. When Raja narrated the script to me a few months back, I liked the way he narrated and immediately got drawn towards the powerful script. The film has shaped up very well indeed.
“The highlight of the film, in my opinion, is the fight sequence filmed atop a moving train. For a long time, I had been wanting to so such a sequence but also wanted it to look realistic. A popular Hollywood stunt choreographer was specially brought while filming this sequence. It was an entirely new experience for me and I’m sure my fans would love it. Music by Vijay Antony is very good with a mixed dose of western, folk and ‘item’ song; still, there is an under-current of melody in all his songs.
“I request all my fans and movie-goers to watch the film only on big-screen and not patronize the bad business of sale of pirated video CD/DVDs. I would want not only my film but also the films starring other heroes too, not to get affected by the piracy menace,” said Vijay.
