Music director Vijay Antony has been gearing up for the few months for a big thing. After working behind the screen all these years, the handsome-looking music director is all set to make his debut as hero on screen. The film which marks his debut as hero has been titled as Naan.
As music director, Vijay’s hits include films like Kaadhalil Vizhundhaen, Ninaithalae Inikkum and Vettaikaran. Vijay spoke to media-persons recently when he shared with them the developments about his upcoming film Naan. “At the outset, I’d like to clarify one thing. Music directors taking to acting has been a global phenomenon with popular composers and singers like the late Michael Jackson, ‘pop queen’ Madonna, etc. trying their hand acting.
“Even in Tamil Naud, ‘Maestro’ Ilaiyaraja and A.R. Rahman have appeared in some commercials. For a change, I’m starring in a full-length feature film. That could be the only difference. Jeeva Shankar, director of the film, happens to my close friend for the past many years. He always has this tendency to try out things in a different manner. His brave decision to cast me as the hero could be a result of that tendency (laughs).
“I believe the film has come out really well. The film is produced jointly by me on behalf of my Vijay Antony Film Corporation and AVR Talkies Pvt. Ld. Shankar has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues of the film besides directing the film. A cinematographer at hear, Shankar has also worked as the film’s cinematographer,” says Vijay and expressed confidence that the film would appeal to all sections of the audience.
Jeeva Shankar happens to be a close friend of the late cinematographer-director Jeeva who expired in Moscow a few years back during the making of the ‘Jeyam’ Ravi-Kangna Ranaut starrer Dhaam Dhoom.
