Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has asserted that her lifestyle is very different than the late Silk Smitha’s. Vidya recently won the coveted Filmfare award for ‘best actress’ for convincingly portraying on-screen the late ‘Silk’ Smitha, Tamil film’s ‘ultimate item girl’ in the film The Dirrty Picture which was made by Milan Luthria last year.
The film, belying Vidya’s detractors’ predictions, went on to become a super-duper hit and put Vidya on top of actresses who seek substantial roles and don’t’ merely indulge in skin-show. Commenting about the film, Vidya says “When the offer to play Smitha came my way, I was a bit hesitant initially to take up the film. As it turned out, the film became a super-hit as it had a theme. Those who saw the movie would realize how people close to Smitha in real life badly cheated on her and exploited her to the hilt.
“I’m happy about receiving the Filmfare award and about the many accolades still puring in for playing Smitha’s role in the film. However, my real life is very different from what I portrayed on-screen for the film. Fortunately, I don’t have any exploiters or cheats around me. In fact, Bollywood has always been very understanding and helpful to me.
“As far as my personal life goes, it is often written that I’m likely to get married soon. All those predictions apart, I don’t think my marriage would take place in the near future at all!” concludes Vidya.
