Actress Vidya Balan has filed a counter-petition in the Court requesting for quashing of the case wherein the petitioner had alleged that Vidya had started in an ‘obscene’ and ‘vulgar’ manner in her latest film The Dirty Picture.
Director Milan Luthria’s The Dirty Picture released three weeks ago all over the country and elsewhere and according to trade circles, the film has been doing rather well and has the potential to be declared a ‘super-hit’ film in the days to come. The film has Vidya playing the character of Kollywood’s late ‘item’ girl Silk Smitha who ruled the roost as an integral part of Kollywood for more than fifteen long years.
A petition was filed at a Hyderabad Court seeking its intervention in the matter and pleading with the Court to take ‘suitable action’ on Vidya Balan for her ‘obscene’ portrayal of her character in the film. The Court then directed the Nallakunda Police Station to file a case against Vidya based on the petition. It was even thought that Vidya might soon be apprehended by the police in connection with the case.
In her counter-petition filed with the Hon’ble High Court at Hyderabad, actress Vidya has said pleaded with the Court to quash the criminal case reportedly filed against her by the Nallakunda Police. She has also prayed that the case filed at the lower Court be quashed at once.
