With his second directorial venture ‘Aadukalam’ starring Dhanush in the lead doing well at the box-office besides eliciting a more-than positive response from the critics from the print and television media as well as the members of the public, director Vetrimaaran is obviously in an upbeat mood nowadays.
Vetrimaaran debuted as director with the successful Dhanush-Divya Spandana starrer ‘Polladhavan’ in 2008. The film, which dealt with small but effective incidents like theft of a bike and the gang-war that was engulfing a particular part of Chennai, was a runaway hit. Vetrimaaran’s treatment of the subject stood out more than anything else, both in ‘Polladhavan’ as well as in his recent release ‘Aadukalam’.
Asserting that he would continue to make meaningful films with different backdrops, Vetrimaran has moved on to start the preparatory work of his next film. He’s still basking in the glory of the success of ‘Aadukalam’ even as he confesses that “The appreciations I received from various quarters stumped me. The critics were even in their positive criticism. I would continue to make such films in future too.”
Without revealing the subject of his upcoming film, Vetrimaran says he is doing some ‘serious’ research to add the much-needed strength to the screenplay of the film. As and when everything is finalized including the hero, heroine and the rest of the cast, the film would go to the floors, he assures.
