Veteran actor S.S. Rajendran has been admitted to the Govt. General Hospital in Chennai after he complained of severe pain in his backbone. Popularly known as SSR, Rajendran has rubbed shoulders with the likes of the legendary actors like MGR, Sivaji Ganesan and Gemini Ganesan in their heydays.
Known for his pronunciation and dialogue-delivery in classic Tamil, SSR reportedly slipped and fell in the bathroom of his residence a few months back and suffered injuries in spinal cord. Following this, he was admitted to the hospital where he was treated for 3 months and then discharged after he started feeling better.
He started feeling extreme pain again in the spinal cord area yesterday and was rushed to the General Hospital. Doctors attending to him said that the veteran actor’s backbone appeared to have weakened and are considering the option of going for a corrective surgery to treat the disorder.
SSR was a very close friend of both MGR and Sivaji Ganesan. After he quit films, he dabbled in politics and was even the member of the State Legislative Assembly for a few years. Now that he has become physically week, he hadn’t been involving himself in politics either.
Let’s pray for the speedy recovery of the veteran actor!
