Director Sankagiri Rajkumar’s made an impressive debut with his Vengayam. The movie proclaimed the philosophical ways of late social reformer EVR Periyaar, aimed at getting rid of superstitions and fake godmen. Even though the film had made it to halls, the public response wasn’t a favorable one.
Actor director Cheran a friend of the Director Rajkumar too liked the film and wasn’t happy to see it walking out of the halls so early. Taking up matters all by himself, Cheran promised for a re-release of the film on March 23rd last Friday. He felt that the lack of good promotion was the sole purpose things din’t work out as expected. “I have properly promoted the movie this time and I am confident of its success”, said Cheran. Vengayam, which is doing good business at theaters, has actor Sathyaraj doing the all important role who preaches Periyar’s philosophies of life to a group of young kids. The film also has a love story woven in between Sub-Inspector Anbu (played by Alexander) and the daughter of the village milkman played by Bhavina. Hats off to Cheran for his noble deed.
