Instead of releasing on Deepavali eve, the much awaited Vijay-starrer Velayudham may be released a day advance, it is informed. The film stars Genelia and Hansika as Vijay’s heroines besides Saranya Mohan, who plays Vijay’s younger sister. Directed by ‘Jayam’ Raja, the film has been produced at a huge budget.
This is the first time Raja is directing a film from outside his own production house run by his father. It’s also the first time he’s directing a hero other than his younger sibling ‘Jayam’ Ravi. Almost all the films made so far under the Raja-Ravi combination have hit the bull’s eye at the box-office. As such, Velayudham offers Raja a chance to prove that he can deliver hit films with other heroes too.
It has been announced officially that the film would now be releasing a day prior to Deepavali i.e. on 25th October instead of on 26th October (Deepavali). The film would be released abroad by Arun Pandiyan’s Ayngaran Films Internaional while producer Ravichandran of Ascar Films would be distributing the film in Tamil Nadu.
In Tamil Nadu alone, the film is likely to be released in more than 1000 theatres. Aingaran has informed that as many as 400 halls have been booked abroad for the film’s release. The film has music by Vijay Antony, who had earlier scored the music of Vijay’s Vettaikkaran.
