Actress Vasundhara (earlier known as Adhisaya) won accolades for her role in last year’s Tenmerku Paruvakkatru directed by newcomer Seenu Ramasamy. The film also won for Saranya Ponvannan the national award for ‘best actress’ and for Vairamuthu the national award for ‘best lyricist’. Vairamuthu later described Ramasamy as the ‘new-age’ Bharathiraaja.
Vasundhara also played brief yet significant roles in Peraanmai and Jayamkondan. She is now counting on actor-director Sasikumar’s Poraali. The film is being directed by Sasikumar’s friend and actor-director Samuthirakkani. Swathi of Subramaniapuram fame pairs up opposite Sasikumar in the film, which also has a significant role for Vasundhara.
After playing a full-fledged heroine in Tenmerku Paruvakkatru, Vasundhara didn’t have any qualms in playing a secondary role in Poraali. The film has been shot widely in and around Theni District where Vasundhara’s role of a ‘sheep thief’ has caught the imagination of the local population.
Vasundhara was only too happy that her role got noticed even before the release of the film. She is said to have put in quite a lot of hard-work in her role in Poraali. As such, she is hopeful that Poraali would get her more recognition and fame!
