Aamir Khan Productions, Delhi Belly did create a huge furor among the family audience, who went to catch the movie with their young ones. As actors hurled abuses at each other, filling the screens with double meaning jokes Delhi Belly was least called, an offbeat release, from Aamir’s camp. Now the film is being remade into Tamil titled Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam .
Producers UTV Motion Pictures who co-produced the original with Aamir, have director R. Kannan roped in for the Kollywood release. With the Hindi version not yet considered fit for television viewing, the Tamil version in the making, will be toned down to suit the interests. Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam (VVS) has Arya playing the main lead (Imran Khan’s role ) with composer Thaman scoring the tunes. Says Kapur of UTV, “We believe ‘Delhi Belly’ will work superbly well with the Tamil audiences and we are thrilled with the exceptionally adapted screenplay that a team of young writers has developed.” John Mahendran of ‘Sachien’ pens the dialogues for VVS. Santhanam and Premgi will step in place for Kunaal Roy Kapur and Vir Das respectively. The movie has Hansika Motwani play the airhostess and Anjali play a dutiful journalist. Videsh handles art direction, Deepali designs the costumes and cinematography is by P.G. Muthiah. Actor Nassar will portray a key role in this remake. Varuthapadadha Vaalibar Sangam starts shoots this May 7th and is set for a Pongal 2013 release.
