Actresses Trisha and Kajal Aggarwal are absolutely over the moon over the more than expected responses to the release of their latest Telugu films. While Trisha had her Bodyguard opposite Venkatesh releasing last week, hottie Kajal Aggarwal had Business Man opposite Mahesh Babu hitting the screens over the weekend.
Mahesh Babu badly needed a hit as his last couple of films didn’t fare well at the box-office. Kajal Aggarwal, though, has been having the best phase of her career as she has managed to reach the top in both Tamil and Telugu films. It is predicted by the trade that she is likely to retain her top slot for a few more years to come.
Trisha, on the other hand, has a solitary film in Tamil and doesn’t have much in Telugu either. She is happy that Bodyguard, which is a remake of the Tamil hit Kaavalan, has been doing well at the box-office. The film, which was remade in Tamil from the original and successful Malayalam version, was also a success story in Hindi.
Trisha had a solitary Tamil film releasing last year in Ajith’s Mankatha in which she was one of the four heroines. She presently stars as one of the two heroines in actor Vishal’s upcoming film titled Samaran. Kajal has a couple of huge projects in Thupakki opposite Vijay and Maatraan opposite Suriya. As and when both the films are released,
Kajal’s stakes in Kollywood would have grown by leaps and bounds.
Interestingly enough both Bodyguard and Businessman have been released in good number of cinema halls in Chennai. While the Mahesh Babu-Kajal Aggarwal starrer Businessman has been released in as many as 14 theatres, the Venkatesh-Trisha starrer Bodyguard has managed to find 8 halls. Observers say that it’s a pointer to the growing liking for Telugu films among Chennai’s audiences.
Gnanavelraja, who is a close relative of actors Suriya and Karthi and runs the production house Studio Green, is the distributor of both these films in Tamil Nadu.
