Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan’s Ra. One is all set for an all-India release for Deepavali(October 26). The film, said to be SRK’s most expensive film as on date, stars superstar Rajinikanth in a cameo and has Kareena Kapoort as SRK’s heroine. Thanks to Rajini’s presence in the film (albeit for a few minutes), the film has been dubbed into Tamil and would be released on the same day on which the Hindi version releases in the country and elsewhere on Deepavali eve.
The audio-launch of the Tamil version of Ra. One was held in the city yesterday. It was widely expected by the media and fans that Rajini might make it to the event, which would have been his first-ever public appearance in almost six months. The audio cassettes and CDs were released by ace director Maniratnam and accepted by ‘Abirami’ Ramanathan, Suhasini Maniratnam and Soundarya Rajinikanth.
Suhasini appreciated SRK’s Tamil diction and said that the trailer of the film, which was screened earlier, was very nice. Ramanathan recalled his distribution days which started with superstar Rajinikanth’s Rajathi Raja almost two decades back and said that his work of distributing films has successfully continued upto superstar Rajinikanth’s Sivaji: The Boss and added that he was very happy to be distributing and releasing the Tamil version of Ra. One.
Rajini’s youngest daughter Soundarya said “Chennai has always loved SRK and his films in a big way; like my father, SRK loves films and respects them. I apologize to my father’s fans as he couldn’t make it to the venue today.” Maniratnam, who has made Dil Se with SRK in the lead, explained in detail his long-term relationship with SRK over the past many years.
On his part, SRK said he always had high regards for the talents of the technicians from Kollywood and for the quality of Tamil films.
The biggest shock of the evening, though, was that superstar Rajinikanth wasn’t shown in the Hindi and Tamil trailers screened for those who had gathered at the venue!
