One of Tollywood’s biggest money-spinner of all times, ‘Magadheera’, is getting dubbed into Tamil. The film, which launched megastar Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja as the hero opposite Kajal Agarwal, broke many box-office records in 2009 in Andhra Pradesh. The grandeur of the film was attributed as a reason, inter alia, to its unprecedented success.

Last year, reports from Kollywood said that producer-distributor ‘Kalaipuli’ Thanu might go in for the remake of the film in Tamil. Later, it turned out to be a ‘false’ alarm. The film, dubbed into Tamil with the title ‘Maaveeran’ (title of Rajnikanth’s own production in the late eighties), is to be distributed in Tamil Nadu by the high-profile Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies.
‘Maaveran’, which has its central theme a mythological story, would have Ram Charan romancing Kajal Aggarwal. Keeravani has scored the music for the film, which has been produced by Geeta Arts, owned by one of Chiranjeevi’s close relatives.
The big-budget film produced with state-of-the-art technology in almost all spheres, has been directed by S.S. Rajamouli of ‘Yamadhonga’ fame. Popular Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi is only too happy to seen his son debuting in Tamil, albeit through a dubbed movie. The movie also stars Sri Hari, Dev Gill, Sarath Babu and Brhamanandham while Chiranjeevi, Kim Sharma and Mumaith Khan have made special ‘guest’ appearances.
Lyrics have penned by veteran Vaalee and Jayarm and cinematography by Senthilkumar.
