Tamil films have witnessed many ‘different’ films in the past half-a-century or so. We have had films where characters which once lived were shown to be taking re-birth and achieving their unfulfilled mission. However, we haven’t had an film which goes back in time and depicts the same character’s acts in its two births. Here comes such a film from AR Murugadoss’ stable.
After successful films like ‘Ghajini’, ‘Ramana’ and ‘Dheena’ (not necessarily in that order), Murugadoss is presently making ‘7aam Arivu’ which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan playing lead roles. The diminutive director has used his script in a clever and adept manner by making his character travel into the past using a ‘time machine’.
The film is already being awaited eagerly by Suriya’s fans who obviously want to check out the ‘chemistry’ between the two Ss – Suriya and Shruti – on screen. Amid such huge expectations, we got to sniff at what role the muti-talented Shruti Haasan plays in the film.
Shruti plays a young scientist in the film who invents a ‘time machine’. She is given a hot chase by a ‘foreign gang’ which tries to wrest control of the machine from her in order to go back in Time to find out the ancient Tamils’ culture and many ‘hidden truths’ from that age. The gang is kept in check and ultimately defeated by Suriya, who protects Shruti and her ‘time machine’.
Suriya plays the triple roles of a circus artiste, a Buddhist Monk and a scientist in the film. After Gautham Menon’s ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, this would be the first time Suriya is playing triple roles. Murugadoss is reported to have shown in a painstaking manner the ‘culture’ lives of the people of yesteryears’ Indus Valley civilization!
