Superstar Rajini’s fans are said to be irked by some sequences in the upcoming Hindi film The Dirty Picture, a biopic on Kollywood’s ultimate ‘item girl’ Silk Smitha. Vidya Balan, known more for her character-based roles than for oomph factors, features in the film and plays the role of Smitha.
Rajini’s fans have reason to believe that some sequences in the film tantamount to ‘insulting’ their matinee idol. As such, they have requested the producer (Ektaa Kapoor) to delete those objectionable portions.
The film, which co-stars Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Imran Hashmi, is based on the life and times of Smitha, who died tragically by committing suicide in the nineties. Ever since the film was launched some months back, it has been mired in one controversy or the other and the protest by Rajini’s fans is the latest in the list of controversies dogging the film.
It is said that sequences featuring Shah, who plays a superstar in the film, and Vidya Balan appear to be heaping insult on superstar Rajini and his fans demand nothing but deletion of those portions from the final version of the film. It may be recalled that the late Smitha had starred in many films with Rajinikanth throughout the eighties.
Ektaa Kapoor, though, denies these allegations. Let’s see what happens in the coming days!
