Music director Thaman is happy that his music in the upcoming film Osthi starring Simbu, Richa Gangopadhyaya, Jithan Ramesh and Revathy has been appreciated by the music-lovers and Simbu’s fans. The audio-launch of the film, a remake of the Bollywood super-hit Dabbang, was held in the city last week. Actor Vijay released the audio of the film.
The advertisements of the film refer to Thaman’s music as a ‘Thaman M
usical’, leading to the viewers making out that music plays an important role in the film. Usually, songs in Simbu’s films go on to become super-duper hits. Thaman assures that the songs in Osthi would be no different and would be loved by Simbu’s fans as well as mucic-lovers.
The film has been directed by Dharani, who has made quite a few hit films with Vijay and Vikram in the lead. As such, this is the first time that Dharani and Simbu are working together. Simbu plays Salman’s role in the original while newcomer Richa reprises the role enacted by Sonakshi Sinha (also a debutant in the film) in the Hindi version.
Simbu has penned and sung the song Pondatti…. in the film and had remarked about the song that had he had a wife, he would have sung such a song for her. Speaking about the film’s music, Thaman says that though he has composed solo, melody and many kinds of songs, it’s always a difficult assignment to score music for ‘jingle’ songs. “The song sung by L.R. Eswari and Vijaya T. Rajendhar was a real challenge; I’m proud that a veteran like Eswari Madam agreed to sing in my music,” concludes Thaman.
The ‘jingle’ song features Simbu and Mallika Sherawat and is equivalent to the super-duper hit song Munni Badnaam Hui in the original version which featured Malaika Arora.
