Few were aware that a film titled ‘Thaa’ released recently on December 3, 2010. Though the film was appreciated by the critics as well as the print and television media as one of the rare films to be coming out from the Kollywood industry, it failed to attract much attention at the box office. In order to have some ‘collections’ at the box-office besides loads of appreciation, the producer is planning a re-release of the film this month again.
The film, though a critics’ delight, sank without a trace when it released last month. The promos were non-existent and even advertisement in the print and television media was far from satisfactory, the producer concedes. The debutant hero, director and producer were equally upset at the response the film managed to elicit at the box office.
The film’s directed by Surya Prabhakar, an erstwhile assistant of director-actor Samutirakkani and stars newcomers Srihari and Nisha in the lead. Despite the film being their first outing, both Srihari and Nisha had delivered stunning performances.
The climax, especially, was something none of the Tamil films has witnessed in the chequered 75-year old glorious history of the Tamil film industry. The makers are hoping to hit the bull’s eye this time.
Will they prove to be lucky second time atleast? Let’s wait and see!
