Here is some good news for all those fans and supporters of Suriya. The actor, whose reality quiz programme Neengallum Vellalam Oru Kodi on Vijay TV has only added to his ever-growing fan-base, would finally have a film of him releasing this year. It would be Maatraan which would be releasing in about 3 months’ time from now.
Directed by K.V. Anand, Maatraan has triggered huge expectations among Suriya’s fans as it was when he teamed up with Anand the last time that he delivered one of his super-duper hits in Ayan. Anand, once a staff-photographer with the now-defunct Illustrated Weekly of India, gave ample hint of his directorial instincts with the fast-paced, racy entertainer in Ayan.
Maatraan has Kajal Aggarwal, who has been moving up fast in the popularity ladder in both Tamil and Telugu films, as Suriya’s heroine. This is the first time that the two get to pair up opposite each other in a film. Suriya reportedly plays two vastly different characters in the film, which is likely to hit the screens on August 15th. The film would be released worldwide and would be preceded by a grand audio-launch.
Eros International, which has bagged the release and distribution rights of the film in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka besides bagging the audio rights from AGS Entertainment, has officially announced the date of release. Harris Jayaraj has scored the film’s music which has been shot widely and extensively along the Indo-Pakistan border, Hyderabad, Wai (Maharashtra), Jodhpur and in some foreign locales including Russia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania and Macedonia.
