The on-going strike by employees and workers belonging to FEFSI and its affiliated bodies has entered its third week with no solution in sight to solve the tangle. The producers and directors of many films starring leading heroes have called a halt to the shooting schedules of their respective films mainly because of their inability to get the requisite number of personnel to assist them in the backdrop of the strike.
The undisturbed stint enjoyed by the film’s shooting schedule is not dissimilar to the one witnessed vis-à-vis actor Ajith’s upcoming film Billa-2 which has been progressing in Hyderabad. Like the Ajith-starrer, Suriya’s Maatraan too is being shot at inside the premises of the Ramojirao Film City in the Andhra Pradesh capital. The film pairs the pretty Kajal Aggarwal opposite Suriya for the first time and is directed by K.V. Anand.
The last time Anand and Suriya worked together, it resulted in the colossal hit Ayan three years back. While Suriya has had the biggest hit of his career in the form of his latest release 7am Arivu, Anand is also fresh from the super-success of his Ko which released early last year. As such, expectations are running high among Suriya’s fans and movie-goers about what is in store for them in Maatraan, which is produced by AGS Entertainment with a huge budget.
Many in the industry are surprised as to how Anand has managed to continue the film’s shoot despite the strike by FEFSI and its affiliated bodies. An Unit source revealed that as the film was being shot at inside the Studio’s premises, the Unit could make use of all the equipment and manpower available inside the campus as per the contract signed when the studio was taken on rent.
