It now appears difficult for Suriya’s upcoming film Maatraan to be releasing on the Tamil New Year which falls on 14th of April. Suriya, who joined hands with director K.V. Anand more than three years back to deliver the highly successful Ayan opposite Tamannah, has re-united with Anand this time for Maatraan opposite Kajal Aggarwal.
Anand has been having a successful stint as a director. The burly director started off as a cinematographer and debuted as director with the Srikanth-Gopika starrer Kanaa Kandein a few years back. His Ko starring Jiiva and newcomer Karthika released last year and became one of the most-loved super-hit films of the year, thanks to Anand’s deft screenplay and Harris’ melodies.
As such, expectations are high on Maatraan which brings together Suriya, whose latest film 7am Arivu has been rollicking at the box-office. Kajal Aggarwal, who has become the latest toast of producers and directors in Kollywood, is banking heavily on Maatraan to find a permanent foothold in Kollywood.
As the final stage of the film’s shooting took more time than expected and the post-production work is yet to start, it remains doubtful as to whether film would be ready for its theatrical release by 14th April. Sources close to Anand say that in case if doesn’t release in April, its release might be postponed to June.
However, chance of the film releasing either on 25th April or in the first week of May in order to cash in on the summer holidays are bright!
