It has now been revealed that the name of one of the characters Suriya would be playing in his upcoming film 7aam Arivu would be ‘Dhamo’. Suriya plays a scientist, a Buddhist Monk and a circus artiste in his upcoming film directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies at a huge cost.

The film is also the debut vehicle of Shruti Haasan, daughter of Kamal Haasan, as heroine in Tamil films. Even before the release of her first Tamil film, she has already been signed up to play Dhanush’s heroine in a film titled 3 which is directed by Dhanush’s wife Aishwarya and produced by Dhanush’s father Kasturi Raja.

It is also said that as many as Rs.10 crores have so far been spent on the computer-generated graphics sequences for the film. Incidentally, the Stan Winston Studios in U.S., which did the graphics work for superstar Rajinikanth’s Enthiran: The Robot, has also performed the graphics work for the Suriya-starrer. Considering the significance of these sequences in the film, Udhayanidhi didn’t object to the huge cost.

One of Suriya’s characters in the film would be Dhamo, the Buddhist Monk. It is also said that China is building a temple in honour of a Monk who was born and brought up in Tamil Nadu. Murugadoss’ script is said to be based on this Monk’s life. Suriya appears as a Monk in the film for a duration of 10 minutes, it is learnt.
