Actor Suriya has said that he might soon venture in to the field of producing films. The star, who is known to be indulging in many socially relevant activities and in helping poor students pursue their higher education, has said that he would produce films mainly to ‘identify, encourage and nurture’ new talents in the industry.
Suriya recently took part in the audio-launch of the film ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’, which has been produced by his friend and director A.R. Murugadoss’ production house in association with Hollywood’s Fox Star Studios. Directed by Saravanan, an erstwhile assistant of Murugadoss, the film stars Jai, Sarvanand, Anjali and Ananya in lead roles and has music by Sathya.
“Turning producer and making quality films would be a kind my way of ‘repaying’ to the industry in particular and to the society in general which has given me so much name, fame, money and fans and everything,” said Suriya, who is about to wrap up a film titled ‘7am Arivu’ in Murugadoss’ direction. The film, which has Suriya playing a Buddhist Monk in one of his many avatars in the film, is expected to be a Deepavali treat to his fans.
Suriya, along with music director Harris Jayaraj, attended the audio-launch as ‘special invitee’. As stated earlier, Suriya’s Agaram Foundation has been involved in many frutitful works towards the welfare of the society’s student community. It may be noted that this is the first time that Suriya has expressed his interest in turning a producer.
