She looked very raw and naïve in her debut film Kaadhalil Vizhundhaen. The film was a runaway hit and she followed it soon after with another film Maasilamani with he same hero. Despite her looks and a figure-to-die-for, Sunaina wasn’t flooded with film offers. She starred in another film Kathirvel opposite Ajmal which is yet to see the light of the day.
Her performance as a village belle in a deglamourized role in national award-winning director Pandiraj’s Vamsam was appreciated by the media and her fans. She was paired in the film opposite debutant Arulnidhi and carried off her role with aplomb. More than an year since Vamsam, she hasn’t yet had a single release to her credit. She also had to face call-sheet problems in a film with Jai Aakash and faced allegations that she had agreed to do the film and then backtracked.
Her Tiruthani opposite Bharath and directed by Perarasu has been in the making for a long time and might release soon. The wait appears to be over as she has landed up some plum projects in her kitty in the recent past. Sunaina, despite not getting many offers, didn’t go back to her birthplace in Maharashtra but chose to stay back and didn’t give up. She has now been cast as the second heroine in Vishal’s upcoming film Samaran which has Trisha as the other heroine.
Though she is the ‘second’ heroine in the film, her pay is said to be on the higher side in the film, which is Vishal’s home production. She would also be playing the heroine opposite Sabarish, son of stunt choreographer FEFSI Vijayan, in his upcoming film titled Mikeset Pandi. Readers may recall that Sabarish debuted in Tamil films as hero with Markandeyan early this year. The film is being directed by Rasu Mathuravan.
She is also likely to be cast as heroine in Samuthirakkani’s next directorial venture and is also said to be in contention to play a significant role in Bala’s next film Eriyum Thanal.
