Hansraj Saxena, the COO of Sun Pictures, has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days in connection with the case filed against him by Selvaraj, a Salem-based distributor. Selvaraj had accused Saxena of backtracking from the promise of giving him the Salem region’s distributions rights of the film ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’ after taking Rs.1.25 crores from him.
Following Selvaraj’s complaint over the last weekend, Saxena was arrested by the Police. In the meantime, another distributor by name Shanmugavel has also lodged a complaint with the K.K. Nagar police in Chennai saying that he was subjected to physical torture by use of wooden log in a closed room by Saxena and his assistant Ayyappan in connection with securing the rights of ‘Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai’.
As such, another case based on the complaint of Selvaraj, has also been filed against Saxena. He was produced in a Magistrate Court in Chennai where the Judge remanded him to judicial custody for 15 days. It is significant that both the cases against Saxena, head of Sun Pictures which is part of the huge Sun Network, have bee filed only after the change of guard in the State after the recent Assembly elections.
