Sun Pictures is back in action and with a bang. The leading distributor and producer in the market thanks to it being part of the oceanic Sun Network, Sun Pictures recently distributed and released the Ajith-starrer Mankatha all over the State. In its endeavour, though, it had actress Radhika’s Radaan Media Works pitching in to aid it to release the film.
It has now acquired another biggie. Vedi, which stars Vishal and Sameera Reddy in lead roles and is produced by Vishal’s brother Vikram Krishna’s G.K. Film Corporation, has been taken over by Sun Pictures for its theatrical release and pre-publicity glitz. The film has been directed by Prabhu Deva and has brought the dynamic duo of Vishal and Sameera together for the first time on-screen.
Unlike Vishal’s last couple of films like Theeradha Vilaiyattu Pillai (romantic) and Avan Ivan (family drama), Vedi would be an action-packed entertainer on the lines of Vishal’s earlier films like Sandakozhi and Thimiru. Despite the many hassles it’s facing on the professional front with the change of guard in the State, Sun Pictures appears to be making an earnest effort to reclaim its top slot as the No.1 distributor.
The comeback’ film Mankatha has already filled its coffers and the firm has some promising films in its kitty in the form of Suriya’s 7am Arivu and Vijay-starrer Nanban. In all likelihood, Vedi would be the next film to be released by Sun Pictures. The film has music by Vijay Antony and has Vivek to tickle the viewers’ funny bones. It’s for the first time that Vivek is playing a role in a film directed by Prabhu Deva.
