The foundation-laying ceremony for 15,000 houses being built on government-assigned land for employees of the film industry headed by the CM karunanidhi was attended by film stars Rajinikanth and Mamootty, besides erstwhile Bollywood hero Jeetendra and a host of producers, directors and personalities from the industry.
It was actress Kushboo who expressed the collective feelings of the workers of the film world at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the housing scheme for film industry on Sunday , emotionally recalling the days she struggled to get a house on rent in the beginning of her career in Chennai.
“I was denied houses because I belong to the film world. When I bought a house, I slept as if I never had sleep in my life,” she said and went straight to the Chief Minister to pay her gratitude.
Actor Mammooty praised the Chief Minister for launching a scheme for those who landed in Chennai with dreams, but failed to realise their aspirations in the film world as , the malayalam star added ” I will be in most stages hosted by kalaignar for the artist, today iam on fast for Ramadan Still i came down to salute this event”.
Actor Rajnikanth said it was his selfless service that kept the octogenarian Chief Minister active who sanctioned loans for raising houses on the stage itself by the time Dasani Rao spoke of the issue.This is a good plan while kalaignar is building Periyar Samathuvapuram, this is Kalaignars samathuvapuram.
