Actress Sonia Aggarwal made a determined bid to make a comeback as a heroine by playing heroine in Oru Nadigaiyin Vakkumoolam which released early this year. The film, directed by debutant director Rajkrishna, arounsed lot of interest as Sonia played an actress on screen amid speculations that the script was nothing but a reflection of her own life.
The film didn’t do as much as expected at the box-office despite some steller performance by Soniya. The actress, who has reconciled to the fate that it’s extremely difficult and almost impossible for actresses making comeback to succeed as heroines, appears to have finally ‘relaxed’ her policy of playing the lead roles alone.
In a certain climbdown from her earlier stance, Soniya has said that she was open to doing all sorts of roles like that of ‘sister’ and ‘sister-in-law’. The actress, who married high-profile director Selvaraghavan in the middle of a successful acting career a few years back and divorced him, didn’t return to her native Punjab but preferred to stay back in Chennai and try out her luck in films for a second time.
As she wasn’t getting the desired opportunities, Soniya has undergone a change of heart as she wants to stay afloat in Kollywood where a sigle hit/miss makes/breaks the careers of many actors and actresses. Her decision and subsequent announcement that she was open to doing all kinds of roles is probably made after she realized this truth.
