Sonia Agarwal, the estranged wife of director Selvaraghavan, still remains single. The actress was introduced in Kollywood as a heroine by the mercurial Selvaraghavan (opposite Dhanush) in his ‘Kaadhal Kondein’ more than 7 years back and eventually fell in love with the director and married him.
The busy couple developed differences between them as days passed by and things came to a high during the making of Selvaa’s dream project ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ in 2009 when Selvaa stayed away from his house at outdoor locations to shoot the film. It was reported in the media at that time that Selvaa’s close ‘liaison’ with Andrea Jermaiah (one of the two heroines in the film) was what caused the ‘split’ between him and Sonia.
The couple filed separate divorce suites early last year and was granted one late in the year. Selva then fell in love with Geetanjali, one of the assistant directors working with him for ‘Irandam Ulagam’, and is now engaged to her recently. This left the industry turning to Sonia as to what would she do now. Sonia, who is presently starring in the upcoming film ‘Vaanam’ opposite Prakashraj, doesn’t appear to be in a hurry to match Selva’s act (of remarrying).
“I haven’t even thought about the second marriage. I’m still young, you know….I want to enjoy life in a carefree manner for a few years and would then think about finding the right guy again…My first and foremost aim at present is to continue to act in films so that I become a bankable heroine again,” says Sonia.
Married heroines are a strict ‘no-no’ in the industry but would it be kind to a ‘divorced’ heroine? Let’s wait and see!
