Now that actor Suriya has been nearing the final stages of the shooting of his upcoming film Maatraan directed by K.V. Anand, talk about his next film after Maatran has gained momentum. In all probability, Suriya’s next could be a film directed by Venkatprabhu who made last year’s Ajith-starrer Mankatha which eventually turned out to be the most successful film in the actor’s career.
The film to bring Suriya and Venkatprabhu would be produced by Suriya and Karthi’s Uncle Gnanavelraja’s Studio Green, it is stated. It was earlier rumour that Karthi might star in the film but after listening to Venkat’s script, Suriya had assured him that he’d be starring in the film even as he’d be starring simultaneously in the sequel to his hit film Singam to be made by Hari.
Bollywood’s Sonam Kapoor, daughter of veteran actor Anil Kapoor, would be pairing up opposite Suriya in the yet-to-be-titled film which could mark her debut in Tamil films. Sonam, who had earlier refused Simbu’s offer to star opposite him in his Vettai Mannan, is said to be very excited to be starring opposite Suriya in her very first film in Tamil. Tollywood’s Ravi Teja and Tapasee might be roped in as the other lead pair in the film, says a source close to Venkat.
As per the film’s script, Suriya and Teja would play detectives who have been newly inducted in the police department. The duo’s nature, objectives and policies are almost divergent in nature as they are given a very important assignment by none other than the chief minister of the State. How they go about completing their assignment would be told in typical Venkat style with a mix of comedy and action sequences.
Venkat’s favourite Yuvan Shankar Raja would be scoring the music. For the first time, Suriya might be crooning a song in the film, it is said.
