SJ Suryah had been away from the limelight for a long time now. The actor-director, who was on a self-imposed hiatus from films, is presently starring in Shankar’s Nanban (a Tamil remake of the Bollywood superhit film 3 Idiots) which has a triumvirate of heroes in Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth.
Now Suryah is all set to turn a music composer with his next film titled Isai(music in Tamil). As usual, Suryah would not only be playing the lead role in the film but would also be producing and directing it. Suryah’s directorial ventures had Deva as music director in his initial days. He then made A.R. Rahman the music director of his successive films. Rahman had scored the music of his latest directorial venture in Telugu as well.
Queried about his decision to score music for his film, Suryah said “Yeah, it’s true that I’d be composing music for my next film. Even in the past, many music directors had asked me to score music for my films. I had always refused as I was very busy with my projects in Tamil and Telugu.
“Even for Isai, Rahman was the first choice and I approached him to compose the music. Rahman told me that he was too busy to commit himself to my film and then proposed that I should consider scoring the music on my own. I then gave it a thought and decided to try it,” concludes Suryah.
All the best SJ Suryah.
