Anushka Shetty a.k.a. Anushka, the lady with a never-ending pair of legs had some time back lamented that she was finding it very difficult to sign up projects in Tamil as most of the Tamil heroes didn’t measure up to her height. She, however, encountered no such problems with Simbu with whom she is presently starring in ‘Vaanam’, a remake of the Telugu hit ‘Vedam’.
Simbu, whose last film was last year’s ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvya’, is said to be banking on ‘Vaanam’ to deliver a superhit. The film, shot in and around the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad and various other locations, is said to be gearing up for a Pongal (14th January) release. Simbu plays a commoner Raju, a local cable operator, in love with Anoushka, who essays the same role she played in the original Telugu version.
The promos of the film have eye-catching stills of Simbu and Anushka and they both appear to be jelling well as an on-screen pair. This appears to be Simbu’s pet project as he liked the original version a later and then decided to make it in Tamil. Simbu has also penned the only lyric in the film, an ‘item number’ between him and Anushka.
‘Vaanam’ also has Bharath, Sneha Ullal and Vega in prominent roles. The film is being directed by playback singer Krish who also directed the original Telugu version.
