Simbu - Trisha win Edison Awards

Actor Simbu and actress Trisha walked away with the ‘best actor’ and ‘best actress’ awards respectively at the 4th edition of the Edison Movie Awards held at Lady Andal School Auditorium in Chennai on Saturday(Feb 12, 2011).Not surprisingly, Menon’s enthralling love story ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ won for its lead pair the best actor and the best actress awards. Both Simbu and Trisha had done exceeding well in the film last year.

Enthiran: The Robot’, the super-hit film of the year 2010,  which starred superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya in lead roles, was chosen as the ‘best film’.

Emerging star Amala Paul bagged the ‘best new face’ award and while director Vijay expectedly won the ‘best director’ award for his ‘Madarasapattinam’.

Sarkunam was awarded the ‘Best Debutant Director’ award for ‘Kalavani’ even as G.V. Prakash Kumar was chosen as the ‘best music director’ in the year gone by. G.V.Prakash was for his engulfed music origination won the Best Music Director Award 2011.

Aarthi, the ‘heavy comedienne who married fellow actor Ganesh last year, won the ‘best comedy actress’ award and the Hari-directed Suriya-starrer ‘Singam’ was adjujdged te best commercial heodashing the Kollywood hopes.

First time in Kollywood decade marked the Best Villain Crew Award to the team Mahi,Anbu,Iman,Vinoth And Arun for their impact acting in movie “Naan Mahan Alla”.

The most eccentric moment was singer VIJAY PRAKASH nominated as the Best Singer for the movie “Vinnaithanti Varuvaya “ distinguishing the conspicuous event with his flamboyant award winning song “Hossanna” dazzled the show with striking dance crew covering the big dias.

Singer Sainthavi was crowned and awarded the Best female Singer nominated for the song ”Adada Mazhada”and stole the audience with her empatic voice for song ”Bommayi Bommayi” in movie “Sura”.

EDISON took its pride with honoring of actress Saranya for the Best Character Actress , actor Jayaprakash for Best Character Actor, P.P.Venkat marked the Best debutant Singer award, Peter Hyne with Best Stunt Director, Sukumar nominated for movie” Mynaa” won Best Cinematographer, N.R.Rahunandan won the Debutant Music Director and many more.

The cultural events were significant with amazing light effects and view of big screen on the stage .They hold the title for mindblowing performance by the cine famous POPPY MASTER dance crew which was the top of audience favourites. The launch of PINK AUDIO’s music album “Kadal Porattam” made by the youths won the mass encouragement as the welcome for the cine field.

For distinguished devoted career in Tamil Cinema, Producer Chandrasekar from Singapore was honored with Best NRI producer Award and Director Krishnamoorthy as the Best Guiness Record Director. Mega celabration swapped with the height of the presence of Tamil Television Directors, Press,VIPS,Business People,Ambassadors from abroad, And mass audience gracing the splendid occasion.

Prominent celebrities Actor Karan,Singer Unni Menon, actor Ganesh Venkataraman, Director Perarsu, Producer Ganesh(the friend in “Vinnaithandi Varuvaya” and  producer of  ”Vanam”), Actor Pandu honored the event as the esteemed Chief Guests for the evening.

  1. The ‘best actor’ and ‘best actress’ awards should go to Arya & Amy Jackson..really they performed well than these pair..

    Thrisha brilliantly depicted the female weakness in that film.

    I have seen a few timid girls like Thrish in VTV in our society. Pretty, intelligent, sexy but don’t have the important thing many men have; Paarthidalam enna thaan ahumnu. I think this is why women have not been able to compete with men. They say women are wired to be risk averse because they can’t risk their offsprings but why can’t unmarried woman be bold?
