The talented Shruti Haasan is busy shooting for the final schedule of her upcoming debut film in Tamil ‘Ezhaam Arivu’ which stars Suriya in the lead and is directed by A.R. Murugadoss. In the meantime, Shruti is also making a ‘comeback’ of sorts as playback singer by agreeing to sing a song for the Arulnidhi-starrer ‘Udhayan’.
With her stunning looks and talents such as singing, dancing, lyric writing and composing music, Shruti is almost unmatched by any other heroine in the country. Leading directors like Gautham Menon, Hari and Radhamohan are said to have been waiting for her call-sheet dates once she wraps up Murugadoss’ film.
Beating them all, a debutant director by name Chaplin has managed to sign up Shruti for his film. No, she isn’t playing the heroine but would only be singing a song in the film titled ‘Udhayan’ and directed by Chaplin. The film stars Arulnidhi, grandson of Kalaignar, as the hero and would be his second film after his moderately successful debut film ‘Vamsam’, which released last year.
Shruti has already sung the hugely popular ‘Adiyae Kolluthae…’ from the Suriya-starrer ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’. Chaplin’s ‘Udhayan’ has music by Kathri Manikanth, son of the famous Saxaphone exponent ‘Kathri’ Gopalnath, who mesmerized many with his amazing work in A.R. Rahman’s musical hit ‘Duet’, directed by K. Balachander, in the mid-nineties.
Manikanth, who started as a ‘jingles’ composer for commercial advertisements, is a leading music director in Tollywood. Shruti, who happens to have a liking for his music, immediately agreed to sing for ‘Udhayan’!
