Actress Shruti Haasan escaped unhurt when fire broke out at the sets erected for the shooting of her upcoming Telugu film Gabbar Singh (Telugu version of Dabangg) at Pollachi. The stunning-looking Shruti successfully debuted as heroine in Tamil films with the Murugadoss-directed 7aum Arivu which has crossed 50 days at many centres and is still going strong.
Produced by Ganesh and directed by Harish Shankar, Gabbar Singh stars Pawan Kalyan and
Shruti in lead roles. A couple of months back, a huge set was erected at a village named Masegaundanpudur near Pollachi wherein a ‘police station’ was set up at a cost of Rs.60 lakhs. Tons of timber, plywood and many other raw materials went into making this ‘police station’.
Due to incessant monsoon rains, the shoot got postponed a few times but a 10-day scheduled was held which concluded last Sunday. Shooting was also held in the localities in and around Pollachi including Sethumadai. Besides the lead pair, many actors and junior artistes took part in the shooting schedule.
In the mean time, a mysterious fire broke out at the ‘police station’ a few days back. The strong winds enabled the fire to spread to all parts of the set. As a result, the entire set was engulfed in fire and got damaged. The sudden fire created commotion in that locality. The Aanaimalai Police have registered a case and are investigating the reasons for the fire based on a complaint filed by the film’s crew.
