Thanks to successive hit films in Tamil and Telugu, actress Shruti Haasan has become very busy with her commitments in Telugu and Hindi films. Shruti, who had a disastrous debut in Tollywood and Bollywood as an actress, appears to be succeeding slowly but steadily in establishing herself firmly as an actress of substance in both the Telugu and Hindi film industries.
Shruti’s debuted as heroine in Tamil films was in last year’s 7am Arivu opposite Suriya in A.R. Murugadoss’ film. It was a reasonable success but Shruti’s second film in Tamil, 3 opposite Dhanush which released a few months back, failed to click at the box-office. Before many started dismissing her as a one-film wonder, Shruti struck gold with Gabbar Singh, the Telugu remake of Bollywood super-hit film Dabangg.
Reports emanating from Tollywood claimed that Shruti had agreed to perform an ‘item number’ in young gun Ram Charan Teja’s upcoming film titled Naik. However, Shruti has denied those reports and has recorded her response on her Twitter page. “I don’t know where from the rumours that I’d be dancing for an ‘item number’ in Ram Teja’s next film emanate. I’m too busy to commit myself to doing ‘item’ numbers.
“I’m about to start my new Telugu film opposite Ravi Teja. I’m also busy with the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit film Unakkum Enakkum directed by Prabhudeva. As such, I don’t have any immediate plans of deviating from playing the lead roles to performing ‘item numbers’ in films,” Shruti has said.
