Actress Shriya Saran finds herself in a rather unenviable position. The starlet, who was much in demand till a few months back, had back-to-back not-so-successful releasing in ‘Kutti’ and ‘Chikku Bhukku’ last year. Ironically enough, both these films had some of the better performances from the actress in recent years.
She now pins her hopes on her upcoming film ‘Rowthiram’. The film, written and directed by Gokul, has her pairing up opposite Jiiva for the first time. The film, produced by Jiiva’s father and producer R.B. Choudhary’s Super Good Films, had its audio-launch recently in the city. On the occasion, actor Jiiva raved about the on-screen ‘chemistry’ he shares with Shriya in the film.
The film had an extended spell of shooting as it couldn’t be completed within the stipulated period due to a variety of reasons. As such, Shriya had to travel almost all over Tamil Nadu and then had to fly to France to shoot the ‘customary foreign song’ which was nothing but a duet song with Jiiva. Though she fell sick mid-way through the shoot, she could pull along thanks to the cooperation and assistance of the crew members.
Talking about her character in the film, Shriya says “I play a girl named Beesha in the film. The role has given me plenty of scope to perform as an actress; at the same time, I haven’t lagged behind in the glamour department either as I’m sure my fans and audience would be expecting that from me. I loved shooting in Puducherry and at other places.
“I’m sure the film would do well at the box-office and put me back in the reckoning vis-à-vis Tamil films,” says Shriya, who is a regular in performing live at filmy events and award-giving functions.
