With an attractive face and a to-die-for slim frame (which makes other actresses go red with envy) coupled with amazing acting and dancing skills, actress Shriya Saran is a learned person who has her opinion on all matters which she expresses with no feelings of fear and regret.
Not many are aware that Shriya has delivered lectures on management at some of the country’s premier management institutions. However, it’s highly debatable whether the students who heard her lecture sat glued to their seats because of her presence amid them or were bowled over by the contents of the lectures. Shriya, who speaks out her mind on all major issues, has said that the country shouldn’t ban Salman Rushdie from visiting the Jaipur Literature Fest.
The socially aware Shriya, an expert Kathak danseuse, has her own ways of leading a hassle-free life which is rid of any major controversy. “A great literateur like Rushdie shouldn’t be denied an opportunity to visit a literary-rich country like ours. After all, we have a democratic set up in place and we should display our maturity of accepting the view-points of a person who has views other than ours on many issues.
“The opposition in this country to Rushdie’s visit is unfortunate and uncalled for. I shall be extremely happy if a red carpet is rolled out to Rushdie as and when he does visit India,’ said Shriya who is awaiting the release of her English language film Midnight Children which is based on a novel of the same name by none other than Salman Rushdie!
