Shivaji Ganesan’s epic release Karnan will hit the halls once again, after a 5 decade gap. The trailer for the film was launched on 21st Feb 2012 at the Sathyam Cinemas, opening to a big round of applause. Being retouched digitally, it holds inspiration in the mythological book of Mahabarata and Karnan as the main lead.
Karnan makes it to movie halls this March 16th. Directed and produced by B R Pantulu, it will throw light on the brave hero, to be played by Nadigar Thilagam Shivaji Ganesan. Releasing way back in 1964 it went down as a classic in the annals of Tamil cinema. Riding high on the Shivaji factor Karnan also has a gracious performance by N T Rama Rao as Lord Krishna. The music for the flick is composed by the wonderful duo of Viswanathan and Ramamurthy with Kannadasan penning the lyrics for this mega release. Seeing the good demand in recent Shivaji releases including ‘Pudhiya Paravai’ and ‘Gauravam’, Shanthi Chokkalingam of Divya Films took up the strenuous task to restore Karnan digitally. “It took almost 3 years to get things polished full and final with DTS surround sound and a 2k screening resolution” says Shanthi.
Fans will be excited to catch a glimpse of a digitally enhanced Shivaji, at the halls.
