Popular Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has announced that she’s quitting films for good. The actress, who has been around in Bollywood for more thatn the past fifteen years, has said that she won’t be committing herself to any new assignments and would be moving out of films soon. Recently, she denied rumours that appeared in a section of the press claiming that she was pregnant.
Shilpa debuted in Hindi films with the super-hit film ‘Baazigar’ which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in lead roles. She then went on to star opposite almost every leading star in Bollywood. She has also acted in Tamil films Mr.Romeo and Kushi(Item Number). Known as the ‘lady with the longest pair of legs’ in Bollywood, Shilpa’s over-powering height was never an impediment to her career.
She got married to London-based industrialist Raj Kundra in 2009, which was Kundra’s second marriage and Shilpa’s first. She then went onto acquire the co-ownership of the Rajayasthan Royals team in the IPL cricket circuit. Her team, which had the popular Shane Warne as the captain for the past 4 years, will soon have to look for a replacement as Warne has said that he won’t be playing in the IPL anymore.
Shilpa’s film career wasn’t going great guns either. Of late, she has been seen in more commercials than in films. “I feel this is the appropriate time to quit films. After marriage, I haven’t been able to divert my energies on so many things and hence the decision,” says Shilpa, who was one of the pioneers of the ‘flat-abs’ phenomenon among heroines in Hindi films.
