Thanks to the success of his Engeyum Eppothum in Tamil, Telugu actor Sharwanand’s old Telugu films are likely to be dubbed and released in Tamil soon to cash in on the actor’s popularity in the State.
Along with Jai, Sharwanand, who debuted in Tamil through Kaadhalna Summa Illai, was one of the two heroes in the film which was directed by debutant Saravanan, an erstwhile assistant director working under A.R. Murugadoss. The film, which had been declared a ‘hit’ by trade pundits, was the first production venture of AR Murugadoss in association with Hollywood’s Fox Star Studios.
Engeyum Eppothum might soon be released in Telugu in its dubbed version. In fact, Saravanan had earlier cast Sharwanand in the film with an eye on the Telugu market. In between, some producers and distributors willing to cash in on Sharwanand’s popularity have decided to dub his Telugu films into Tamil to make some quick money.
Andari Banduvayya, a 2010 Telugu film which starred Sharwanand and Padmapriya in the lead, was a box-office hit. The film not only did well but also won the ‘Nandi’ award from the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. Director Chandra Siddharth, while dubbing Andari Banduvayya into Tamil as Gokulam, has reportedly added a couple of sequences to make it look ‘convincing’ in its Tamil version.
