Though it’s not officially announced as yet, sources close to director Shankar have been saying on condition of anonymity that the ace director has almost finalized the script of his next directorial venture. Shankar’s last film as director was the Jiiva-Vijay-Srikanth starrer Nanban which released in January and did average business at the box-office and limped to its 100-day mark last month.
Shankar has dealt with the menace of black money in many of his films including the Rajini-starrer Sivaji: The Boss. For his next film, though, he is said to be toying with the idea of taking up an issue which is very much a contemporary one and one which has been altering the very democratic set-up of the country in a drastic manner.
Shankar’s next film is likely to deal with the ‘cash-for-vote’ menace, which has plagued the Indian society in a big way as people tend to take cash from political parties and feel obliged for for them instead of judging the parties by their performance or by any other yard-stick.
Vikram, who did Anniyan with Shankar years back, is aligning with Shankar for this venture tentatively titled ‘Therdhal‘ which would have music by A.R. Rahman. P.C. Sreeram would be the film’s cinematographer. The scripting is almost nearing completion with the author duo of Subha assisting Shankar. A top Bollywood heroine is likely to be introduced in the film opposite Vikram, it is informed.
The producer of this mega-project is yet to be chosen even as rumours strongly claim that Ascar Ravichandran is the frontrunner to bag this project as a producer.
