Director Shankar has assured that his Nanban would be released on the eve of Pongal in January next year. Nanban is Shankar’s next project after the record-breaking Enthiran: The Robot which released last year and starred superstar Rajinikanth and the soon-to-be-mother Aishwarya Rai in lead roles.
Nanban, incidentally, is the Tamil remake of the Hindi super-hit film 3 Idiots which starred Aamir Khan in the lead role. Shankar has signed up Vijay, Jiiva and Srikanth to play the roles reprised by Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan, not necessarily in that order, in the Tamil version. He has also brought Tollywood queen Ileana back to Tamil by signing her up as the heroine opposite Vijay.
The competition among producers and distributors to book theatres for their respective films has become a stiff one. As such, producers are announcing from now onwards the date of release of their films so that the can get the desired cinema halls in January to release their films. With more than 2 months to go for Pongal, Shankar’s Nanban happens to be the first film which has been confirmed to be releasing on that day.
Talking about his film, Shankar said “The shooting of Nanban has been completely wrapped up. The post-production work has just started. Vijay’s fans are in a for a grand treat as his Velayudham releases on Deepavali followed by Nanban on Pongal eve. We are planning to release the audio of Nanban in December in a grand manner!”
