Remember the child actress in Anjali? Yes, Baby Shamili. She is making a comeback to the silver screen after a big gap. Her role as a mentally challenged girl – Anjali, did win her the National Film Award for Best Child Artist, leaving a memorable impression on many.
Shamili, sister to Ajith’s wife Shalini, has signed her next project with director Parthasarathy. The actress was just 2 when she won her National award and later she went on to star in all South Indian languages from Tamil,Telugu,Kannada and Malayalam. In Malyalam she also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Child Artist playing Malootty , directed by veteran Bharathan. Buzz is Shamili will star in first-time director Parthasarathy’s new project a sequel to 1996 movie ‘Azhakiya Ravanan’. The fresh sequel revolves around one of the characters in the film named ‘Karayogam President TPV Kuruppu’. Shamili has bagged the lead heroine in the movie, opposite stalwart Mammootty. Her last outing in Mollywood flick Harikrishnans (which had both Mammootty and Mohanlal) was a blockbuster hit. Expectations are high for her comeback Mollywood release, after 14 years.
